What is Amazon query share?
Amazon query share usually means a brand or ASIN's share of a particular search query's activity, such as impressions, clicks, cart adds or purchases. It is not one universal Search Query Performance column: you need the funnel stage, selected view and denominator to interpret the percentage correctly. Amazon's Search Query Performance dashboard reports query-level activity and the selected brand or ASIN's contribution to that activity. Amazon's public guidance discusses query volume and funnel metrics, rather than defining a single percentage called query share. If someone uses that phrase, ask which share column they mean. For a silicone baking mat, a query could produce a 12% impression share and a 20% click share. Those percentages describe different stages of the same query's shopping journey. Neither means that 12% or 20% of all Amazon searches were for silicone baking mats. Use the same query, time period, marketplace, view and funnel stage for both counts. Share equals the selected entity's count divided by the matching total count, multiplied by 100. If your selected brand has 40 of the 200 reported clicks for a query, its click share is 20%. Do not divide those clicks by query volume and call the result click share. In a hypothetical baking mat example, 240 of 2,000 impressions gives 12% impression share, 40 of 200 clicks gives 20% click share, and 12 of 100 purchases gives 12% purchase share. The brand's share changes across the funnel; there is no single percentage that summarises all three accurately. Compare adjacent funnel stages to locate possible weaknesses. Low impression share can suggest limited visibility. Click share lagging impression share may prompt a review of the search-result offer, image and price. Purchase share lagging click share can suggest a conversion issue, but these patterns are diagnostic clues rather than proof of a cause. Check the underlying counts as well as the percentages. Share can increase because competitors lost activity even when your own counts stayed flat. If a tool defines query share as a query's fraction of a chosen keyword set's search volume instead, that is a separate calculation: read its documentation and do not confuse it with Brand Analytics funnel share.
