Why is my Amazon listing not showing in search?
An Amazon listing not showing in search is usually suppressed, failing to index for the keywords you are targeting, or ranked so far back it is practically invisible to shoppers. The first step is identifying which of these three problems you are dealing with, because each has a different fix. A suppressed listing is one that Amazon has removed from search results entirely due to a listing quality violation. Common triggers include a missing main image, a title that exceeds character limits or contains prohibited content, required category-specific attributes left blank, or a price that Amazon's systems flag as potentially misleading. The listing still exists in the catalogue and can be accessed directly via its ASIN, but it will not appear in any keyword search until the suppression is resolved. To check for suppression, go to Inventory in Seller Central and filter by listing status. Suppressed listings are flagged with a status indicator and usually accompanied by a reason explaining which attribute triggered the issue. Fix the flagged attribute, save the listing, and allow 24 to 48 hours for the listing to be reinstated in search results. A listing that is live but not indexed for your target keywords will not appear in search results for those terms, even though the ASIN is active and the product is available to buy. Amazon indexes keywords from specific fields in a specific order of priority: title first, then bullet points, then the backend Search Terms field. If your target keyword does not appear in any of those locations, the listing will not be served for that search. To check indexation for a specific keyword, search the keyword on Amazon and look for your listing in the results. If it does not appear, add the keyword to your title or backend Search Terms field, save the listing, and recheck after 48 to 72 hours. Amazon typically processes keyword indexation changes within that window, though more competitive terms can take longer to appear in results. If your listing is indexed for a keyword but ranking on page five or beyond, it is technically appearing in search but capturing almost no traffic. Fewer than 2% of Amazon shoppers navigate past page two for any given search. A listing on page eight is not missing from search: it is simply ranked where almost nobody will find it. Improving organic rank requires improving the signals the A9 algorithm uses to evaluate relevance and quality for that keyword: sales velocity on that specific search term, conversion rate, listing quality, review count and rating. These improve incrementally over weeks and months. PPC campaigns targeted at your ranking keywords can accelerate rank improvement by generating the sales velocity signals the algorithm needs to push your listing higher in organic results. A listing can also disappear from search if it runs out of inventory, if the offer is not in a buy-box-eligible state, or if the product is in a category with restricted visibility for certain customer groups. Listings with no available stock do not appear in most search results because Amazon does not surface products shoppers cannot immediately buy. Confirm that your FBA stock levels are above zero and that your offer is in a fulfilled and active state before investigating listing quality issues. Price is also a factor: Amazon can suppress or de-prioritise listings where the price is significantly above the historical range for the ASIN, flagged as potentially misleading. If you have recently increased your price and the listing visibility dropped shortly after, check whether a pricing alert has been triggered in Seller Central.
